The challenge
The client's current data center did not meet the standards needed to sustain growth and regulatory demands.
No certifications
The existing data center lacked ISO 27001, SOC2 or ENS certifications, making regulatory compliance and acquiring regulated-sector clients difficult.
Downtime risk
The physical relocation of servers posed an inherent risk of disruption. The plan needed to minimize the downtime window as much as possible.
Limited connectivity
The previous location had a single connectivity provider, with no redundancy or direct peering with major national carriers.
Exhausted capacity
The company's projected growth exceeded the available power, cooling and rack space capacity at the current facility.
The solution
We planned a phased relocation to Data4 Madrid with new network architecture and full redundancy.
The project started with a complete audit of the existing infrastructure: hardware inventory, network dependency mapping, critical service analysis and definition of viable maintenance windows for each server group.
The physical relocation was executed in planned waves during weekends, with specialized IT equipment transport. At Data4 Madrid, racks were pre-prepared with dual power feeds, network cabling and BGP connectivity through our AS205081.
The new network architecture was designed with redundant connectivity, direct peering with major carriers and significantly lower latency to major national and international exchange points.
