Why XCP-ng and Veeam

XCP-ng has grown as a licence-free open source alternative, especially among those leaving VMware who prefer the Xen ecosystem. Backup jobs run against your infrastructure and write to your local repository, on the window and retention you define.

You add our repository as the secondary target. Veeam ships restore points automatically, incrementally and encrypted.

GFS retention and immutability

Daily, weekly, monthly and yearly per your policy. With immutability on, nobody can delete them early — you included.

Full VM, disk, file or application, straight from the offsite copy and without downloading the whole backup.

Using the NBD transport requires OpenSSL 3.0.9, which ships with XCP-ng 8.3 LTS. That is the release we recommend working on. If you are on an earlier branch, plan the upgrade before rolling out protection.
I already use Xen Orchestra for backup. What do I gain with Veeam? expand_more
